Micro Direct Laryngoscopy & Phonosurgery
Micro Direct laryngoscopy is a procedure done under anesthesia to examine the larynx fully with a microscope. Once anesthesia has been achieved, the laryngoscope is inserted through the mouth allowing the surgeon to visualize the throat and vocal cords. If there are lesions on the vocal cords, they are either removed through the scope or biopsied, depending on what condition is being treated. If an injection is to be performed, it is done at this time. Often, pre-operative and post-operative consultation with our speech pathologist is undertaken.
